**Official Message from the Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center (VMASC) regarding operations-UPDATED 3-29-2020**

The Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center (VMASC) would like to alert you to the following changes in operation due to the official statement UAB has made concerning University Operations due to COVID-19:

Questions to the VMASC Office
You can direct questions to staff at VMASC about services either directly to the staff person or to our VMASC email at vmasc@uab.edu.  You can still call our office for questions or to get help at 205-934-8184.

Academic Advising Appointments
Effective until further notice, ALL academic advising appointments will be conducted via phone. Advisorshave the option to provide you their ZOOM id number to conduct the appointment via ZOOM if necessary.

Your academic advisor will call you at the scheduled time of your appointment.

Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction will begin March 30, 2020 via Zoom. Please utilize the Canvas SI session shell for more information from your SI leader regarding accessing the Zoom link and times the SI sessions will be held.

If you have further questions about Supplemental Instruction (SI), please contact Hilary Murrell at hmurrell@uab.edu .

Tutoring
We will begin operations for Tutoring appointments the week of April 6, 2020. Tutoring will take place online via Zoom. You can NOW schedule tutoring appointments which will begin on April 6.

• Schedule appointments like normal via MyTutor or on our website.
• Once you schedule your tutoring appointment, you will receive a confirmation with the zoom link for the tutor.
• Join the tutor on your scheduled day and time via Zoom.

SAP Student Check-Ins and Study Hours
If you are a student who is currently on a SAP Success Plan please note the following:

1. Students on SAP plan who have required study hours, please schedule a SAP check-in weekly with one of the coordinators below or myself so we can check your progress and count these as your study hours.
2. SAP appointments will be conducted via phone and the coordinator will contact you at the appointment time for your check-in.
3. We encourage you to continue your studies at the same pace as you were doing so far this term and if you have any questions, please direct them to the following individuals.
4. Online SAP plans will continue as normal via CANVAS.
